Hey Everyone:

It is that time of the year again!  Seems to have gotten here quicker this year, kinda like Christmas keeps doing.

This Memo is to help guide you through this very important Season and hopefully answer many of the questions that will arise and most importantly to put an end to some of those myths flying around.

CHAMPIONSHIP ROSTERS:

1.       Each team is allowed 20 players.  This includes any pick up players that you may want or need to add later.  Each of the  player’s guardians, Coaches and the Manager must sign the Championship roster.  Players 18 years old and older do not need a guardian's signature. They sign for themselves.  Coaches do not need to be listed on the Championship Roster.

2.       VTD will fill in all the information on each player.  You must print a COLOR copy of the Championship Roster.  It must be a 2 sided single paper.  Make 2 black & white copies.  One for your ASA Commissioner and one for your team.

3.       Championship Rosters must be REDLINED by the local Commissioner or his/her designee.  National Office requires that Championship Rosters must be submitted for REDLINING 24 hours prior to Championship Play.  Local Associations may establish an earlier date for Classification or availability purposes.

NOTE: Contact your Commissioner to find out their availability.  (Northern Nevada: Contact Robin 775-355-1952 In Southern Nevada: Contact Nancy 702-438-7305.

For most of you, your first Championship Play event will be State, June 15-17th.  IF you are entered in a Qualifier prior to that date, you must have your Championship Roster redlined by the deadline that the Tournament Director has set.

§         Once a player has signed a Championship Roster, they can be removed from that roster by a single line through their entire line.

§         Once a team competes in any Championship Play Event, the player is frozen to that roster and may not compete with another team until the original team is no longer eligible for Championship Play.  If a player leaves a team after Championship Play participation, they may not join another team for the remainder of Championship Season.

§         Once a team qualifies that team's roster in then frozen and the only way additional players can be added is on a Pick Up Player Form.  You may only pick up 3 more players or to a total of 20 players.  A team is considered qualified when they accept the berth.

§         If a team has had their roster redlined, have not qualified and wish to add another player a new Championship Roster will be used to add additional players.  It will be redlined also and stapled to the original Championship Roster.

PICK UP PLAYERS:

1.       Each team is allowed 3 Pick Up Players once the team has qualified.

2.       A Pick up player may not be substituted for another player nor can they be substituted for.

3.       Gold Teams may pick up players from Region 14, "A" teams may pick up players from Nevada, "B" & "C" Teams may pick up Players from their own League only until they qualify for Western Nationals, at which time they may pick up players from anywhere in Nevada.

4.       Players must have played for an ASA registered team during the current season and must have played in the division of play (fast pitch) for which they are being pick up for.

5.       Pick up players must be selected only from ASA registered teams that are no longer eligible for championship play and must be from the same division (fast pitch) and from the same or lower classification (Gold, A, B or C).

6.       No players may be picked up for National Qualifiers, Hall of Fame Tournaments or Sector Qualifying Tournaments.

7.       Teams adding pick up players must submit a completed official ASA pick up player form attached to the original official roster before the team plays in the tournament.  The local Commissioner or his/her designee must sign this Form.

OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT ENTRY FORM:

1.        All teams competing in Championship Play other than State MUST have an Official Tournament Entry Form signed by the local Commissioner.

I hope this Memo will help you understand the procedures necessary for Championship Play.  If you need any further guidance, please contact me at SallyASA@aol.com or at 702-361-7431
